Sky Living announce the Casts for Five New Drama Pilots


Sky Living has announced the casts and writers for its five new pilots which will comprise the channel's 'Drama Matters' season.

Lawless will star Suranne Jones as a new judge struggling to keep her head above water in the murky depths of the justice system. The programme offers a backstage pass into the inner working of a modern court from the cells in the basement to the judge's chambers. Lawless is written by Jacquetta May and co-stars Lindsay Duncan and Chris Coghill.

The Psychopath Next Door, starring Anna Friel, is described as a creepy and intriguing drama which explores what happens when evil moves in next door. The drama is written by Julie Rutterford, whose previous credits include Shameless and Trollied.

Writer Sally Wainwright is reunited with Last Tango in Halifax star Anne Reid for The Last Witch. The programme follows the lives of two feuding sisters who, having spent centuries apart, are reunited with vengeful and deadly consequences. The Last Witch will also star Katherine Kelly and former Emmerdale actor James Thornton.

Talking To The Dead, is based on the novel by Harry Bingham and has been adapted for the screen by Case Histories' Gwyneth Hughes. It stars the Bletchley Circle's Sophie Rundle as newly-qualified DC Fiona Griffiths who is about to embark on her first murder case. Talking to the Dead is set to co-star Russell Tovey and Keith Allen.

Finally Rubenesque, written by Fresh Meat's Annie Griffin, concentrates on a female football referee who decides to become a plus-size model. Former Scottish international goalkeeper Gemma Fay plays the lead role and is supported by Freema Agyeman and Daniela Nardini.
