Outnumbered to return for fifth and final series.

The BBC have announced that Outnumbered, the multi-award-winning comedy series from Hat Trick Productions which captures the turbulent chaos of family life in a way not seen before, at all its most deliciously chaotic, is back on BBC One with a brand new 6 x 30 minutes series.

After some six very successful and critically acclaimed years, Andy Hamilton and Guy Jenkin, creators of Outnumbered, have decided that this, the fifth series, will be the last.  But they and the cast very much hope to reunite in the future for the occasional one-off Outnumbered special.

The family were last seen in a Christmas Special in 2012. The new series sees Mum (Claire Skinner) having a brand new office job but find it hard to combine the inevitable crises at home with presenting a professional veneer. Jake is sporting a new tattoo - of sorts - and is also learning to drive. Any nearby pedestrians might want to dive for cover. Meanwhile, tone-deaf Ben finds himself cast in the lead role of his school play - a musical version of Spartacus.

Karen has decided to no longer be blonde and she is starting secondary school, where she quickly finds herself in conflict with, well, just about everyone (including the Head Teacher). The dreaded Auntie Angela also puts in an unexpected appearance, with her latest toy-boy intow and lots of unsolicited opinions.

The fifth series begins on Wednesday 29th January at 9pm on BBC ONE.
