BBC3 Renews Bluestone 42 and Some Girls

BBC3 have announced that bomb-disposal sitcom Bluestone 42 and sixth form college comedy Some Girls will both be returning for a third series.

Recently voted the BBC3 show that viewers would most like to save, Bluestone 42 is currently airing on Thursday nights. Meanwhile the second series of Some Girls aired last autumn with the third series seeing the usually level-headed Viva wanting to do something stupid.

Also announced were two new comedies the first of which, entitled 600 Days, comes courtesy of Grandma's House co-creator Dan Swimer. Featuring a cast of up-and-comers; 600 Days will follow the exploits of Luke who's sentenced to two years in a Young Offender's Institute and has to rely on his girlfriend's dimwitted brother to help him out.

Finally, there's Top Cops, a sitcom about police detectives featuring an impressive supporting cast which includes Kenneth Cranham, Anna Chancellor and Charlotte Ritchie.

BBC Three Controller, Zai Bennett said of the news,  “BBC Three is at the heart of new comedy in the UK and is not only still on air, but thriving. These four deliciously different and brilliantly written series and pilot demonstrate our ongoing commitment to bring our viewers more even more cutting edge, exciting and most importantly of all, funny, comedy this year.”
