Watch the trailer for Broadchurch remake.

Following today's exciting news surrounding Broadchurch Series 2, US Network Fox have announced that US remake Gracepoint will be scheduled on Thursday's at 9.00pm this Autumn.

Just like the UK series Gracepoint follows two detectives -- a compassionate detective and a by-the-book cop -- who partner to solve the murder of a young boy in a seaside town. Fox has also released an online trailer

When a young boy is found dead on an idyllic beach by a jutting cliff-face, a major police investigation gets underway in Gracepoint, the seaside town in Northern California where the tragedy occurred. Soon deemed a homicide, the case turns neighbor against neighbor and sparks a media frenzy, which not only throws the boy's family into further turmoil, but also threatens to upend the lives of all of the town's residents. Leading the murder investigation is by-the-book cop Emmett Carver, who has just arrived in Gracepoint to fill a high position in the town's police force. That job previously had been promised to Detective Ellie Miller, who must put any resentment aside and work the case with her prickly new boss. Danny is survived by his grieving parents, Beth and Mark Solano, who are devastated by the loss of their young son. Mark, a native of Gracepoint, is a well-liked local plumber and family man. Beth, who married Mark after getting pregnant in high school, is hungry to discover the truth behind Danny's murder. Their rebellious daughter, Chloe, is hit hard by her little brother's death, and she hides her older boyfriend, Dean, from her parents. The entire town of Gracepoint is pulled into the chaos of the investigation, including Jack Reinhold, a private and stubborn man who runs the kayak rental service on the beach, as well as the local wildlife observation program, for which Danny used to volunteer. Susan Wright, a mysterious woman, who lives alone with her dog in the RV park near the coast, and works various cleaning and odd jobs, prefering to remain anonymous. The town's minister, Paul Coates, becomes a de facto spokesperson for the community as the media descends on Gracepoint. Well-intentioned but inexperienced, Coates seizes the opportunity to be in the spotlight and finds himself leading the most attentive congregation he's ever had. The investigation is followed closely by the town's local newspaper reporter Owen Burke, who is Det. Miller's nephew. Eager to help catch Danny's killer, Owen is unaccustomed to covering the murder beat. But when San Francisco Globe reporter Renee Clemons sets up camp in Gracepoint, she fuels Owen's ambition. What's more, having followed Detective Carver on a similar murder case that went unsolved, she is determined to hold him accountable for the case's outcome.

David Tennant stars, but sees his character Alec Hardy renamed as Emmett Carver. Breaking Bad'sAnna Gunn takes the role that has seen Olivia Colman  win. acclaim and praise. Other notable cast members include Nick Nolte. Nolte will star as Jack Reinhold, the owner of a kayak rental business and the local wildlife observation programme, at which murder victim Danny Latimer volunteered. David Bradley played the version of the character in the original UK version of the show.

Original writer Chris Chibnall has said in the interviews that the remake reminds true to the original in places but was cagey when asked if the US series would have the same ending as the hit ITV drama.

Worse than feared. A complete scene by scene remake with Tennant and a frankly atrocious am-dram US accent. What the hell wrre they thinking. Not angry, just disappointed. Awful, awful, awful and I wonder if the huge negative reaction already after the US press launch today means it will get dropped from the schedule. Certainly won't last in prime time after the first two episodes.
