BBC comedy boss outlines plans

The BBC's comedy boss Shane Allen has outlined his plans for the genre in a chat with trade magazine Broadcast. In the interview Allen says he wants to see more sketch shows and bigger shows on BBC One alongside plans for topical one off's for BBC Four. Allen also confirmed details of the new comedies heading our way as well as perhaps the unwelcome return of Citizen Khan which will be returning for a truly unfathomable fourth series in 2015! Other comedies teased included a sitcom based on the memoirs of comic Emma Kennedy, and sketch shows from Morgana Robinson and Javone Prince in an effort to revive the genre as well as hopes for a studio based sitcom from Gavin & Stacey and Stella star Ruth Jones.  Allen also said he thought a new full series of Mrs. Brown's Boys was unlikely but that he'd like to keep its star Brendan O'Carroll on board for festive specials.
