BBC3 announce three new entertainment series for 2014

BBC Three have today announced that three new entertainment shows will air on the channel across 2014.

South Side Story is the first programme to combine the structured reality format with pop music performances, as the contributors sing and dance in addition to living their lives in front of the camera. Primarily set in Brixton, South Side Story follows a group of friends who work as aspiring musicians, artists and DJs in a vibrant, urban South London.

Killer Magic sees five young magicians compete against each other in a series of tasks, in the hope of avoiding have to face a killer trick - a notorious illusion that has jeopardise the lives who have performed it throughout history. With a new theme each week, the contestants must create a trick that suits, their unique style to impress the studio audience and their conjuring comrades.

In addition to these two new programmes, Hotel of Mum and Dad has been re-commissioned for a second run.

Speaking of these new commissions BBC3 controller Zai Bennett said, "entertainment on BBC Three is all about the new stars of tomorrow and bringing our audience closer to themselves in extraordinary worlds and circumstances. I'm delighted these three shows will be doing just that on the channel this year.”
