Broadchurch, Southcliffe and The IT Crowd lead BAFTA Nominations

ITV's Broadchurch and Channel 4's Southcliffe and The IT Crowd led the filed in the TV Bafta Nominations which were announced today.

The popular mystery drama garnered three nominations for best Drama Series and nods for cast members Olivia Colman and David Bradley.

Southcliffe, based around a small community rocked by a huge disaster, garnered four nominations for cast members Sean Harris, Rory Kinnear and Shirley Henderson. In addition it featured in the dramatic miniseries category alongside The Fall, The Great Train Robbery and In the Flesh.

The IT Crowd was the big hitter in the comedy category garnering nominations for Richard Ayoade, Chris O'Dowd and Katherine Parkinson as well as featuring in the Best Situation Comedy category. Completing the sitcom category were Count Arthur Strong, Toast of London and Him and Her - The Wedding.

BBC One period drama The Village also was strongly represented with recognition for Maxine Peake in the Best Actress category and Nico Mirallegro in the Supporting Actor field. The Village and Broadchurch are joined in the Best Drama Series category by My Mad Fat Diary and Top of the Lake.

The factual series is a battle between the Channel 4 documentaries as both Bedlam and Educating Yorkshire feature alongside Keeping Britain Alive and The Route Masters. The ever popular Best Features category has an interesting field including the incredibly successful The Great British Bake-Off and perennial favourites such as Grand Designs and Long Lost Family.

The strangest range of nominees can definitely be found in the Constructed Factual/Reality category which includes The Big Reunion, Dragon's Den, Gogglebox and The Undateables.

Finally, the Radio Times Audience Award is this year being contested by Breaking Bad, Broadchurch, Doctor Who, Educating Yorkshire, The Great British Bake-Off and Gogglebox.
