Celebrity Squares returning to ITV.

TV has commissioned classic game show Celebrity Squares which will be broadcast on the channel later in the year.

The revamped series will be produced by September Films and GroupM Entertainment and hosted by Warwick Davis.

The game is based on the classic ‘Noughts and Crosses’ with a grid of nine boxes.  Inside each box are celebrities who answer questions.  The contestants have to say if they ‘agree’ or ‘disagree’ with the celebrity’s answer.  If they are correct they win that square and if they win three boxes in a line – vertically, horizontally or diagonally – they win the round and money, before the winning contestant goes on to play the end game for the star prize.

Warwick said “Celebrity Squares is one of those special television shows that everyone remembers – I grew up watching it, and I’m thrilled to be presenting this updated version of a TV classic.”

ITV’s Director of Comedy and Entertainment Elaine Bedell said: “We’re delighted to be returning Celebrity Squares to our screens with Warwick at the helm.  We’ve got some great celebrities up our sleeves as well so it promises lots of laughs.”

Richard Foster, Managing Director GroupM Entertainment said:  “We are very pleased to be partnering with CBS and September to bring this iconic show back to ITV.”

Celebrity Squares returns later in 2014.
