America's new dramas fail to find big audiences
Much hyped new US show The Red Band Society delivered lacklustre ratings for the Fox Network last night in America.
The drama which is produced by Steven Spielberg only managed to entertain 4 million viewers, giving it1.3 rating among adults 18-49 at 9 p.m. Some industry insiders had been sceptical of the show's supposed hype as it the drama follows group of teens with various aliments living in a pediatric-hospital.
One studio chief even quipped that 'nobody wants to watch sick kids in primetime' The show has yet to find a UK broadcaster but its fate is already in jeopardy if the ratings don't improve.
In contrast NBC had a better night with their new drama The Mysteries of Laura, which stars Debra Messing as a detective juggling busting criminals and raising a family. The new show was helped with a lead-in from America's Got Talent but still held its own with healthy 10.4 million viewers.
