BBC announce DVDs for Christmas 2014!

You may think you've time to prepare for Christmas, but if you're anything like me you'll be wanting to know what DVDs the BBC has planned for the festive season.
The releases over the next few months include some DVD exclusives including a squeal to last year's Top Gear's Perfect Roatdrip  and you can soon own the Miranda Hart's first standup show.
Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond are once again behind the wheels of some of the most desirable and coveted cars as they hit the Italian highways for Top Gear The Perfect Road Trip 2 (out 17 Nov). Following last year’s escapades in France, this exclusive-to-DVD special sees them head further into Europe as they seek out the ultimate driving experience against a backdrop of glorious Mediterranean scenery and sunshine. What could possibly go wrong…?

For those who prefer the magnificence of Mother Nature over modern machinery, BBC One’s stunning new landmark Natural History serial Life Story arrives on DVD on December 1st  Narrated and introduced by Sir David Attenborough and shot in ultra HD, the series focuses on the struggles animals face to survive and contains some of the most incredible images of the natural world ever captured on film. Extras include an exclusive 10 minute interview with Sir David Attenborough.

Stand-up fans are spoilt for choice this Christmas. Miranda Hart brings her unique brand of silliness and slapstick to her first ever live comedy DVD Miranda Hart: My, What I Call, Live Show (out 17 Nov), recorded at London’s O2 Arena.

Multi-award-winning star of Not Going Out and Would I Lie To You? Lee Mack returns with his trademark brand of high energy banter, well-crafted gags and sharp one-liners in one of the most hotly anticipated stand-up shows of the year, Lee Mack - Hit The Road Mack (out 24 Nov).

Family favourite and the new presenter of ITV’s refreshed Stars In Their Eyes, Harry Hill brings his zany humour to the all singing and all dancing live show, Harry Hill Sausage Time - Live From Leeds (out 24 Nov).

Footballing legend David Beckham embarks on an epic adventure to the heart of the Amazon rainforest in the much talked about one-off documentary David Beckham Into The Unknown (out 24 Nov). The DVD includes exclusive and previously unseen footage.

With his inimitable boundless enthusiasm Professor Brian Cox is on a heroic quest of his own as he takes on the big questions about who we are, whether we are alone, and what our destiny is in his new BBC Two series Human Universe (out 10 Nov).

Doctor Who: The Complete Series 8 (out 17 Nov) takes viewers beyond this universe on an adventure through time and space with Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor. The 12-part series, which includes a host of special features for DVD, sees the Doctor joined once again by companion Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) as he comes face-to-face with ancient legends, saves the Earth from destruction and does battle with his oldest and most fearsome nemesis – the Daleks.

BBC Two’s explosive 1920s gang drama Peaky Blinders (out 17 Nov) returns for a gripping second series with Hollywood star Tom Hardy joining an already impressive cast featuring Cillian Murphy, Sam Neill and Helen McCrory.

BBC One’s heart-warming new series Our Zoo (out 27 Oct), which stars Lee Ingleby, Ralf Little  and Anne Reid in the true story of the Mottershead family who founded Chester Zoo against the odds in the 1930s, also joins the fold.

And there’s Gangsta Granny (out 24 Nov). Based on the best-selling children’s novel by David Walliams, this touching and hilarious family drama tells the story of a schoolboy who learns of his grandmother’s secret life as an international jewel thief. It features a cast boasting some of the biggest names in British entertainment including Miranda Hart, David Walliams, Julia McKenzie, Rob Brydon, Robbie Williams and Joanna Lumley.

Other notable releases include the fourth series of Scott & Bailey which arrives on DVD on November 10th.
