Notable Continuing Series: Doctor Who, 6.25pm, BBC1

9.00pm Care BBC1 - One-off drama from acclaimed writer Jimmy McGovern and starring Sheridan Smith and Alison Steadman. Jenny Northwood is a single mother struggling to raise her two girls, Sophie and Lauren since feckless husband Dave left her for another woman. Jenny's widowed mother, Mary, is her lifeline, helping out with the kids and allowing Jenny to hold down a full-time job at a supermarket. But when Mary suffers a devastating stroke that results in vascular dementia, Jenny's world comes crashing down. She and her sister, Claire, assume that their mother will be cared for in hospital, but they're horrified to discover that, once she's recovered from the stroke, the hospital want their bed back and Mary will have to go into a nursing home. But none of the local authority homes are even remotely equipped to cater for Mary's comprehensive needs. Unable to afford private healthcare, and with Claire living 80 miles away, Jenny is forced to give up her job and look after her mother at home, but the stress of caring for Mary takes its toll as Jenny and the kids reach breaking point.

7.30pm The Royal Variety Performance ITV -  Greg Davies hosts the Royal Variety Performance in the presence of members of the Royal family at the London Palladium. This year's event features performances by Take That, the cast of West End musical Hamilton, George Ezra, Clean Bandit, Andrea and Matteo Boccelli, Lost Voice Guy, Rick Astley, Rhod Gilbert, and many more.
8.00pm Celebrity Lego Masters at Christmas Channel 4 - The junior builders are paired with six celebrity helpers who share their passion for the little plastic brick. Taking part are comedian Rob Beckett, actor Joe Swash, comedian Joel Dommett, TV personality Spencer Matthews, Tattoo Fixer Alice Perrin, and Star Wars legend Warwick Davies.

10.45pm The Apprentice: The Final Five BBC1 - This programme shows the origins of their drive and ambition and just what makes their business brains tick. Featuring interviews from family, friends and loved ones, alongside Lord Sugar's trusted aides Baroness Brady and Claude Littner, it delves into the candidates' backgrounds and remembers their peaks and troughs throughout the process so far.
Wednesday
8.00pm Christmas Shop Well for Less BBC1 - Alex Jones and Steph McGovern return and are off to Yorkshire to tackle the Atwal-Brice family's seasonal spend. As foster parents, Paul and Michael have cared for over 20 children, including twin brothers Levi and Lucas who they adopted ten years ago. Levi and Lucas have since been diagnosed with autism and epilepsy, and need full-time care. As well as continuing to foster, Paul and Michael have recently adopted another set of one-year-old twins, Lance and Lotan. For this busy household, Paul and Michael feel Christmas is all about making special memories and don't hold back on anything, but can Steph and Alex convince them that magical memories don't have to come with a hefty price tag? If this family can make a few cutbacks they could start saving for a family trip to Disneyland, Florida.

9.00pm I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!: Coming Out ITV - For weeks, viewers and the world's media alike watched as 11 celebrities were stripped of all comfort and dumped in the Australian Jungle where they survived with no contact from the outside world, completing trials and challenges to stave off hunger. Now, they return to the lap of luxury and we have exclusive access as they settle back into the world they left behind.
9.00pm Old People's Home For 4 Year Olds: Christmas Special Channel 4 - Series Two saw strong friendships develop in the specially built nursery at Lark Hill village near Nottingham - such as Ken and Lily 'Bobtail', Beryl and Scarlett, and Pauleen and Ismail; with both groups making significant improvements during the 12 week experiment. As the children delight in being back with their older friends, can the nursery classmates persuade every resident living at Lark Hill to give one item of food for the local foodbank? Will tap-dancing Lilian be well enough to perform after a recent fall? And what will Victor make of the surprise appearance of fellow crooner Alfie Boe

8.00pm This is My Song BBC1 - Series that invites ordinary people to work with the music industry's most talented producers to create a track for a very personal reason.
8.00pm Amazing Spaces Winter Wonderland Channel 4 - George and master-craftsman Will Hardie explore the ingenious small-space wonders hidden away among the snowy peaks of the Swiss, French and Italian Alps. Starting an epic road trip from an observation point 4000m above sea level, they set out on an adventure spanning mountain ranges, which takes in a secret ski lodge disguised as a boulder; a tree house resembling a giant acorn; a traditional Swiss cabin made almost entirely from concrete; and a tiny hamlet made up of eight 200-year-old chalets brought together from all over the Alps. And before heading home, George and Will visit a breathtaking mountaintop restaurant resembling a spaceship, before competing in a toboggan race.
9.00pm The Apprentice: Why I Fired Them BBC1 - Lord Sugar looks back at the candidates who fell before the final hurdle and the tasks that took them to the brink. With the help of some previously unseen boardroom moments, Lord Sugar leads viewers through the best and worst decisions made by the aspiring entrepreneurs. Reflecting on their boardroom bust-ups, he explains the reasons why he fired them.
9.00pm Amazing Hotels Christmas Special BBC2 - In this Christmas special, Giles and Monica travel to Kulm Hotel, St Moritz. This Swiss Alpine hotel was the birthplace of winter tourism more than 150 years ago.
9.00pm Billy Connolly's World Tour ITV - Billy Connolly takes you on a tour of his home in Florida. The journey is intercut with Billy reflecting on 25 years of distinctive joyful travelogues all around the world.

Friday
8.00pm Nadiya's Party Feasts BBC2 - Nadiya Hussain shares her favourite party dishes. She joins a group of children as they make cupcakes, lends a hand with a trifle and helps out with a surprise birthday cake.
