NEWS: BBC One announces a raft of new commissions at Edinburgh TV Festival

BBC's Director of Content Charlotte Moore announced a raft of new commissions for BBC One with new dramas, sitcoms and documentaries all being announced.

Sherlock co-creator Dracula Steven Moffatt brings a new four-part drama series to the channel in the form of Inside Man. The drama focuses on a woman trapped in a cellar under an English vicarage and an American death row prisoner who cross paths in an unexpected way.

Four-part thriller Ridley Road is written by Sarah Solemani and is produced by RED productions. The series focuses on the story of one brave young woman's fight against the rise of fascism on the cusp of the swinging sixties.

Focusing on the emotive issues around abortion in Northern Ireland, When It Happens to You is made by the producers of Three Girls and written by Gwyneth Hughes who most recently penned Doing Money for BBC Two. The drama looks at the experience of families and their love ones who have been profoundly affected by the issue.

Commissioned as part of the Comedy Playhouse strand, Bumps is a new sitcom starring Amanda Redman as a sixty-three-year old divorcee who decides to have a third baby whilst, as the same time, her daughter discovers she's expecting her first child.

In A Royal Road to Wembley: Tackling Mental Health, The Duke of Cambridge works in partnership with the FA to launch an ambitious new plan to raise awareness of male mental fitness. The film will follow the narrative of the football season, from the first qualifying round in September all the way through to The FA Cup Final in May, and will show clubs up and down the country tackling mental health issues in their communities.

Sir David Attenborough will also be returning to BBC One with an hour-long special titled Extinction: The Facts which will explore the huge number of species and animals which face extinction and the impact of this loss on the planet and humanity.
