CustardTV News Update: Succession renewed, First Look at SAS: Rogue Heroes, Landscapers and Tiger King 2

Welcome to another look back at this week in TV News. 


*As well as the announcement that Happy Valley is returning for its third run, this week's other big news was the renewal of Succession

Announced on the show's own Twitter page, Succession's renewal comes in the midst of its third season which is currently airing on Sky Atlantic in the UK. 


*BBC One have released first look images of the new show from Peaky Blinders' Stephen Knight - SAS: Rogue Heroes. Due to air in 2022,  SAS: Rogue Heroes is the dramatised account of how the world’s greatest Special Forces unit, the SAS, was formed under extraordinary circumstances in the darkest days of World War Two. The show will be led by Alfie Allen, Jack O'Connell and Connor Swindells whilst Dominic West and Sofia Boutella will appear in supporting roles. Newly announced cast includes Tom Glynn-Carney, who will play SAS founding member Mike Sadler as well as Jason Watkins and Stuart Campbell. 


*Ahead of its November 17th debut, Netflix have dropped the trailer for the hotly-anticipated Tiger King 2. Following on from where the 2020 smash hit documentary left off, we see Joe Exotic in prison and Carole Baskin closing in on ownership of his zoo. However,, newfound revelations emerge on the motivations, backstories and secrets of America's most notorious big cat owners. This season will also explore how the series changed the lives of its most memorable faces including Jeff Lowe, Tim Stark, Allen Glover, and James Garretson 

*This Country's Daisy May Cooper will be creating a still unnamed new comic thriller for BBC One alongside Deadwater Fell's Selin Hizli. The centre of the show will be the burgeoning friendship between the two women with Hizli's Jen arriving in town with her son, in the process disrupting Cooper's Nic's lonely life. Nic’s son Ollie also finds a new friend in Jen's son Harry. That is until everything unravels. A twisted comedy thriller about two mums, marital angst, maternal paranoia and a dead cat. The six thirty minute episodes will be debuting in 2022 on both BBC One and the iPlayer. 

*Sky have released a first-looker trailer for new miniseries Landscapers. Starring Olivia Colman and David Thewlis as mild-mannered husband and wife Susan and Christopher Edwards; who become the focus of an extraordinary investigation when a couple of dead bodies are discovered in the back garden of a house in Nottingham. Co-starring Samuel Anderson, David Hayman, Felicity Montagu and Daniel Rigby; Landscapers will debut on Sky Atlantic and Now TV on the 7th December. 


*BBC One have released the first images of A Very British Scandal which will star Claire Foy and Paul Bettany as The Duke and Duchess of Argyll. Written by Sarah Phelps, A Very British Scandal focuses on the divorce of the Duke and Duchess of Argyll, one of the most notorious, extraordinary, and brutal legal cases of the 20th century. Famed for her charisma, beauty, and style, Margaret, Duchess of Argyll, dominated the front pages, as the divorce exposed accusations of forgery, theft, violence, drug-taking, bribery, and an explicit Polaroid picture that was to haunt her for the rest of her life. Starring alongside Bettany and Foy will be Amanda Drew, Phoebe Nicholls and Richard McCabe. 

*E4 have announced that Sir Trevor McDonald will be taking on the role of the titular GamesMaster when the 1990s cult classic is rebooted on the channel. Taking over the role from the late, great Sir Patrick Moore, will assume the vital duties of setting up gaming’s most amazing challenges to the contenders and as the all-knowing GamesMaster, he’ll watch over competitors as they compete in virtual battles across a range of games, trying everything in their power to claim a legendary Golden Joystick Trophy.

*BBC Three have revealed that they have renewed Ru Paul's Drag Race UK for a fourth series. Additionally, the channel will be airing the second season of Ru Paul's Drag Race Canada. 


*E4 has announced the new line-up for the next series of Celebs Go Dating which is headlined by legenary broadcaster Ulrika Jonsson and 5ive's Abz Love. They will be joined by TOWIE's Chloe Brockett, The Apprentice's Ryan-Mark Parsons, Made in Chelsea's Ryan Nazaire and Married at First Sight UK's Nikita Jasmine. 

*Nish Kumar has revealed that he will be stepping down as the host from Late Night Mash, just one series into its run on Dave. Previously known as The Mash Report, the satirical series was picked up by Dave after being cancelled by BBC Two. Kumar announced the news on a video shot in the Mash studio and it is yet unknown whether the series will be renewed with a new host at the helm. 


*BBC Two have announced that Sara Cox and comedian Darren Harriott will be co-hosting Britain's Top Takeaways. Announced earlier this year, this brand new eight-part series sees some of the nation’s best-loved independent takeaways battling for supremacy in a fast-food showdown that crowns a different winner each week.

*And finally the cast of 24 are set to reunite for a virtual fan event celebrating 20 years since the drama premiered. The 24 Virtual Convention will see the likes of Kiefer Sutherland, Elisha Cuthbert, Cherry Jones and Xander Berkley sit on multiple panels throughout the day. The event, which will be streamed on the 7th November, will cost $24 to join with all proceeds going to  Operation Smile, a charity providing important surgeries to children born with facial deformities.
