CustardTV News Update: Stranger Things Trailer, Sky Christmas Line-Up, I'm a Celeb start date

 Welcome back to another look back at the week in TV news. 

*Saturday saw Netflix celebrate Stranger Things Day with a host of events over the fantasy show's social platforms. The big reveal was a new trailer, which saw Millie Bobby Brown's Eleven's new life in California and her looking forward to the upcoming Spring Break. The trailer also revealed that the show will return in Summer 2022. 



*Sky Max 
have revealed the shows that will be airing over their channels during the Christmas period. These include family adventure drama The Amazing Mr Blunden, which sees two teenagers encounter Simon Callow's mysterious old man who offers their mother the chance to clean his ruined country house. From there, they discover secrets and have to travel back in time to right several wrongs. David Walliams also brings his third festive fairy tale recreation to Sky as he reimagines the classic Hansel and Gretel, which picks up the story after the two youngsters have fled the witch's gingerbread house. Elsewhere, Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan will be learning circus skills in a Christmas special of Rob and Romesh Vs. They'll also be Christmas specials of Sky's big comedy gameshows A League of Their Own, Never Mind the Buzzcocks and There's Something About Movies

*ITV have announced that I'm a Celebrity... Get me Out of Here will be returning at 9pm on the 21st November. Earlier that night, at 7:30pm, they will also air a one-off special; An Audience with Adele where the singing superstar will perform at the London Palladium in front of a specially invited guests including family, friends, fans and some of Adele's personal heroes and heroines. 

*Alibi have announced that they have acquired the rights to Silence of the Lambs spin-off Clarice. Airing earlier in the USA on CBS, Clarice stars Rebecca Breeds as the titular FBI agent as she returns to the bureau in 1993 following the events of The Silence of the Lambs. Alibi will start airing the thirteen-part series in December. 

*Sky this week have revealed that Code 404 will be returning to Sky Comedy for a third series in 2022. Cast members Stephen Graham, Daniel Mays and Anna Maxwell Martin are all set to reprise their roles when the futuristic crime-fighting comedy returns. 

*ITV have announced further casting for their adaptation of Henry Fielding's classic Tom Jones. Fresh off her Emmy win for Ted Lasso, Hannah Waddingham is set to play the seductive Lady Bellaston, opposite the already-announced leads Solly McLeod as Tom and Sophie Wilde as Sophia Western. Also joining the cast are James Fleet, Alun Armstrong, Shirley Henderson, Daniel Rigby, Felicity Montagua and Dean Lennox Kelly. Fielding's novel will be adapted by Gwyneth Hughes and the series will be directed by Georgia Paris. 

*Netflix have announced that Sofia Vergara will be starring in a new-six part miniseries Griselda. Vergara is also executive-producing the series which will chronicle the real life of savvy and ambitious Colombian business woman, Griselda Blanco, who created one of the most profitable cartels in history.

*E4 have released a teaser trailer for their reboot of classic 1990s show Gamesmaster featuring the first look of Sir Trevor McDonald as the eponymous master. 

*The nominations for the 60th Rose D'Or awards were announced this week. The drama category will say UK favourites Time, Help and It's A Sin competing alongside Netflix's Squid Game and Bridgerton as well as HBO's Mare of Easttown. I Hate Suzie, We are Lady Parts and Jerk all feature in the comedy drama and sitcom category alongside Netflix's The Chair. Meanwhile, Staged, Motherland and Famalam are all recognised in the Best Comedy Category and Taskmaster, The Masked Singer UK, A League of their Own and Strictly Come Dancing are all in the running for the Best Studio Entertainment award. Selected from over 750 entries across 12 categories. The shortlist was voted for by a jury of 150 broadcast executives and leading producers, from across the international television industry. This year's Rose d’Or Awards will be presented in a virtual ceremony, hosted Sue Perkins on November 29th.


*Finally, as we get closer to the festive season the Christmas ads have landed and it would be remiss of us not to expose those who have not yet seen it to this year's John Lewis Christmas ad.
