Two new cast members have been announced for the American remake of Broadchurch, which has now been retitled Gracepoint.

Anna Gunn, who received an Emmy nomination for her role in Breaking Bad, will star as Detective Ellie Miller. The role, originally played by Olivia Colman in the ITV series, will see Gunn star opposite David Tennant. Though the Ellie’s name has been kept the same, the Tennant character has been changed from Alec Hardy to Emmett Carver.

Meanwhile, two time Oscar nominee Jacki Weaver has been cast as the mysterious Susan Wright who is new to town and lives on her own in an RV. The Australian actress, best known for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, takes the role made memorable by Pauline Quirke in the original series.

The first episode of Gracepoint is to be written by Broadchurch writer Chris Chibnall and directed by original series helmer James Strong. Filming for the series is believed to be starting in January ready to be aired on Fox as part of their fall season.
