Autumn Preview: Accused Series 2, BBC1

In 2010 Jimmy Mcgovern’s Accused proved a instant success. Now, almost two years after the first transmission the series will return for four brand new single dramas starring the cream of British acting talent.

Stellar British actors Sean Bean (Game of Thrones, Lord of The Rings, the eponymous hero of the hit series, Sharpe), Stephen Graham (Boardwalk Empire, Occupation, This is England) star in the opening episode of Jimmy McGovern’s award-winning series.

Sean Bean plays Simon an English teacher, whose alter ego Tracie’s unconventional quest for love entangles him in a triangular love affair that leads inexorably to a terrible crime of passion. Stephen Graham stars as Tony, a satellite and aerial engineer, and Rachel Leskovac (Coronation Street, Holby City) plays his wife of some 12 years, Karen, who works as a beautician. The episode is written by Shaun Duggan and Jimmy McGovern and is directed by Ashley Pearce.

Episode two stars Anne Marie Duff and Olivia Colman as mother’s trying to do right by their sons and their community. The episode is written by Carol Cullington and Jimmy McGovern, and is directed by David Blair.

Episode three stars John Bishop in his first acting role on BBC One playing Robert Sheehan’s father, Peter. Robert Sheehan plays Stephen who suspects his mother’s palliative care nurse played by Sheridan Smith of serious wrongdoing. Josh Bolt plays Stephen’s younger brother, Dom. The episode is written by Danny Brocklehurst and Jimmy McGovern and directed by David Blair.

Episode four stars award-winning actress Anna Maxwell Martin who stars as Tina Dakin, and John Bishop and Robert Sheehan also feature. The episode is written by Isabelle Grey and Jimmy McGovern. It is directed by Ashley Pearce.
