Axed US comedy finds new home

One of the recent US cancellations has been resurrected thanks  to online broadcaster Hulu. Deadline is reporting that Hulu have given The Mindy Project an unexpected fourth series after it was recently axed by the Fox network. The series, which airs here on E4 has been avoided the axe before but now will be only available to US viewers who subscribe to the online platform. Hulu officially calls this a fourth season order, though its size equals two normal seasons on cable or digital and matches the two-season, 26-episode pickup fellow Universal TV comedy The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt received by Netflix. Hulu has the option to order additional seasons, with a decision to be made after the Season 4 premiere.

Fans took to twitter to voice their anger and disappointment at the axe and star and writer Mindy Kaling said “I am thrilled The Mindy Project has found a new home on Hulu, where so many of our fans are already watching the show.

The single-camera comedy follows a skilled OB/GYN (Kaling) navigating the tricky waters of both her personal and professional life.

It is too early to say if E4 will get the rights to continue showing it in the UK,
