Breathless Cancelled by ITV

The cancellation of ITV’s period medical drama Breathless has been confirmed by its star Zoe Boyle.

Speaking at the Radio Times’ Cover Party Boyle said, ““It’s fine. It’s absolutely fine, it’s sometimes nice to just leave it as one little brief moment in time and not drag it out.”

But Boyle only had positive things to say about her time on the show as Nurse Jean Truscott, ““I loved the part and I loved the script and I loved the show as a whole. I thought it looked beautiful and I really enjoyed watching it. But more than that it was just a really fun experience because the cast all got on really well and there were no dramas on set.”

Breathless debuted on ITV with a consolidated audience of 4.4 million but by the end of the six week run that number had fallen to 2.7 million.

An ITV spokesperson later confirmed this news but gave no reason to as why the show was cancelled.
