Broadchurch and Educating Yorkshire win RTS Awards

CustardTV favourites Broadchurch and Educating Yorkshire were both big winners at last night’s RTS Awards.

The ITV series won two awards for Best Drama Serial and Best Female Actor for Olivia Coleman while the Channel 4 factual programme won Best Documentary.

Other big winners including Idris Elba winning Best Male Actor for Luther, Best Scripted Comedy going to Plebs and Best Comedy Performance being won by Mrs Brown’s Boys’ Brendan O’Carroll. 



BBC2’s gangster drama Peaky Blinders took home the award for Best Drama Series whilst the channel’s American space tale The Challenger won Best Single Drama.

Channel 4 shows fared well at the awards with wins for Gogglebox, The Last Leg, Four Rooms, Alan Carr: Chatty Man, The Murder Trial and drama serial Run which took home the award for Best Dramatic Writing. Meanwhile Best Writing in a Comedy went to James Corden and Matthew Baynton for The Wrong Mans.

Stephen Fry won the Best Presenter award for his Out There documentary and finally David Suchet took home the Lifetime Achievement Award.
