ITV have today announced that both David Tennant and Olivia Colman will return for the second series of the channel’s excellent crime drama Broadchurch.
Tennant will return as dour DI Alec Hardy whilst Colman resumes her roles as Ellie Miller, last seen having her life torn apart when her husband Joe confessed to the murder of Danny Latimer.
Also returning for series two are Jodie Whittaker and Andrew Buchan as Danny’s parents Beth and Mark Latimer. The final returning cast member to be confirmed is Arthur Darvill who’ll play local vicar Paul Coates.
No other casting details have been revealed as of yet with writer Chris Chibnall wanting to keep the plot a secret for now.
ITV’s Director of Drama Steve November says, “we’re delighted Broadchurch is back in production, but we’re remaining tight-lipped about how the story develops, suffice to say Chris has delivered as always and the scripts are just as exciting as the first series.”
Filming for Broadchurch Series Two is to commence in Dorset shortly.
