Channel Five has announced that Suspects will return this autumn with a further series already scheduled for 2015.

Starring Fay Ripley and Damien Molony, Suspects was Channel Five’s first original drama commission in eight years. The drama was mainly improvised with the three central cast members only being given basic plot outlines for each episode.

This first series was initially meant to ten episodes long but the channel have now announced that the fifth and final episode of the current run aired last Wednesday. The other five episodes will be added to new episodes to form a second series due to air this autumn, a series of all-new episodes will then air some time in 2015.

Channel 5’s Director of Programmes Ben Frow said, “Suspects has been an incredible critical success for Channel 5, and praised for its innovative and game-changing approach to procedural drama. We’re thrilled by the reaction and are excited about commissioning a further series for later in the year.”

Executive producers Paul Marquess added, “Suspects is the most exciting show I’ve ever made, so we can’t wait to get back into production.”

Suspects will return this autumn.
