Committed fans have managed to save yet another axed TV show. Community, which was recently axed by NBC in the US has been resurrected after fans took to social media in a bid to find the new home for the cult comedy. Yahoo has committed to a 13-part sixth season and has also bought the rights to all previous episodes.

Community’s creator, Dan Harmon, will serve as an executive producer, while cast members including Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs and Yvette Nicole Brown will all return.

McHale said: ‘Thank you to the greatest f%$#ing fans in the history of the human race. It’s the internet. We can swear now.’

And Harmon joked: ‘I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, Big Bang Theory. Look out, Bang Bus!’

Yahoo plans to screen the new sixth season on its online channel Yahoo Screen this autumn.
