HBO have released a trailer for the upcoming return of their explosive teen drama Euphoria.
The trailer teases more drug use, turbulent relationships and possible gun violence. The synopsis for Season 2 reads: “Amidst the intertwining lives in the town of East Highland, 17-year-old Rue (Zendaya) must find hope while balancing the pressures of love, loss, and addiction.” From the trailer, it’s unclear where Rue and Jule’s (Hunter Schafer) relationship stands. Rue had just returned from rehab in Season 1 but quickly relapsed. She fell in love with Jules, but Jules had her sights set on someone she met online. Unfortunately, the boy she met online was Nate Jacobs. Nate turned out to be a dangerous and insidious person. This second season was delayed by the pandemic but the show returned for two specials in late 2020 exploring where Rue and Jules were.
The first season of the show became one of the show quickly established itself as one of the boldest shows on television with the lead performances from Zendaya being one of the most compelling in recent memory as the tortured Rue, a young girl struggling with addiction and the loss of her father.
Zendaya leads an ensemble cast that also includes Maude Apatow, Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira, Nika King, Storm Reid, Hunter Schafer, Algee Smith and Sydney Sweeney.
The second season, will air weekly on Sky Atlantic and NOW from Monday 10th January.
