So it’s that time of year again as we head to the Australian jungle as a gaggle of brave celebrities look to survive for three weeks in the new series of I’m a Celebrity Get Me out of Here. Here at The Custard TV we realise that not all of the new campmates are instantly familiar so we’ve presented this handy guide so you can get to know them all ahead of Sunday’s show.

Adam Thomas

Who is He?: An actor best known for his portrayal of Adam Barton in Emmerdale a role he has played since 2009. Adam was also an original member of the cast of Waterloo Road playing Donte Charles from 2006 to 2009.

Reason for Taking Part: He just wants to show people he can put himself out there and rise to the challenge.

Phobias: Creepy crawlies, especially spiders.

How will he fare?: Obviously hired to be one of this year’s resident hunks, Adam already has a lot to live up to after his fraternal twin was one of the participants on this year’s Love Island. I feel that the fact that he’s in a popular soap opera will carry him through the competition up to a point but I think the audience will turn on him if he proves himself to be a little bit dull.

Current Odds: 10/1

Carol Vorderman

Who is She?: A TV presenter best known for the 26 years she spent on the letters and numbers boards on Channel 4’s iconic Countdown. Since leaving Countdown, Vorderman was a regular fixture on Loose Women for three years and also consulted with David Cameron’s government on the teaching of maths in schools. Carol has recently obtained her pilot’s license and plans to fly solo around the world at some point.

Reason for Taking Part: She wants to dispel the myth that she’s incredibly serious and wants to show that she can have a laugh.

Phobias: She’s not scared of many things however she’s not a great swimmer so won’t be great at the underwater tasks.

How will she fare?: The closest thing this year’s series has to a national treasure I’m sure Carol will play mum of the group and her larger-than-life personality will see her through to the second half of the competition.

Current Odds: 12/1

Joel Dommett

Who is He?: The least familiar of this year’s campmates, Joel is a comedian and actor who has appeared on numerous TV shows throughout the years. Joel’s biggest acting role came in 2010 when he starred as DC Sweeney in the final series of Skins. More recently he was a regular panellist on Sky One’s music quiz Bring the Noise where he was part of Nicole Scherzinger’s team. Additionally he hosted Live in Chelsea; a Made in Chelsea spin-off show that aired on E4.

Reason for Taking Part: Presumably to raise his profile and he wants people to find out how nice of a guy he is.

Phobias: He isn’t going to reveal them at this stage.

How will he fare?: Not much is known about Joel but I think the pressure is on for him to be as funny as possible so he can fall into the role of camp clown. However, as he’s not as well-known as a lot of his fellow campers he’ll have to make a good impression quite quickly or face being one of the first to go.

Current Odds: 8/1

Jordan Banjo

Who is He?: Another face who may not be instantly recognisable, Jordan is a member of street dance troupe Diversity who won Britain’s Got Talent in 2009. Since winning the show, Diversity have had a number of successful tours and Jordan has done some work alongside his brother Ashely on the Sky One show Got to Dance.

Reason for Taking Part: He wants to prove to people that he’s not a wimp.

Phobias: The usual combination of snakes and spiders which won’t stand him in good stead during the trails.

How will he fare?: Alongside Adam I think Jordan is going in one of this year’s camp hunks but like Joel has to work hard to make an impression as he isn’t that familiar to a lot of the viewing audience.

Current Odds: 14/1

Larry Lamb

Who is he?: An actor with over thirty-five years of experience, Lamb is best known for his roles as Mick Shipman in sitcom Gavin and Stacey and as villainous Archie Mitchell in Eastenders. More recently Larry starred in the final series of New Tricks playing veteran copper Ted Case. He hosts a Sunday morning radio show on LBC and was part of Gareth Malone’s celebrity choir who achieved a number one single for Children in Need.

Reason for Taking Part: He would like people to know the real him rather than just form an opinion on him based on a role he’s playing.

Phobias: He doesn’t have any although says if something does go wrong then it can be pretty scary.

How will he fare?: I think Larry is one of this year’s more familiar faces and seems like a very likeable guy. I’m sure he’ll become the dad of the camp and barring any big incidents could do very well on this year’s show.

Current Odds: 8/1

Lisa Snowdon

Who is She?: Lisa is best known as a presenter and as a judge on Britain’s Next Top Model between 2006 to 2009. From 2008 to 2015 she presented the Capital Radio Breakfast Show alongside co-hosts such as Johnny Vaughn and Dave Berry. Before becoming a presenter, Lisa worked as a model and was the face of Gucci as well as being the Lynx elevator girl. She’s also had quite a public personal life especially when she dated George Clooney on and off for five years.

Reason for Taking Part: Possibly to show the real her although she claims that she’s never really cared what people think of her.

Phobias: She’s most scared about what it’s going to be like coping without food.

How will she fare?: I feel that Lisa will play the tomboy of the group and she will begin to grow on the audience at home. At the same time I feel the people already have certain opinions about her which may count against her going forward in the competition.

Current Odds: 20/1

Ola Jordan

Who is She?: A professional ballroom dancer who was a regular on Strictly Come Dancing between 2006 and 2015. During her time on the show Ola partnered with the likes of Robbie Savage, Kenny Logan, Sid Owen, Andrew Castle and Paul Daniels. However her greatest achievement came when she won the show in 2009 alongside BBC Breakfast presenter Chris Hollins. Since leaving the show she and husband; fellow former pro dancer James have been very critical of the series.

Reason for Taking Part: She wants people to see her away from the big hair and skimpy dresses and see the real Ola for the first time.

Phobias: Another one who may be regret going into the jungle as she’s frightened of snakes, rats and spiders.

How will she fare?: Like Lisa, I feel that Ola has a lot of preconceptions to quash if she wants to progress on the show. I do also have a sneaky suspicion that she’ll be the camper who’ll be most likely to be the one selected for the early bushtucker trials.

Current Odds: 18/1

Sam Quek

Who is She?: This year’s token Olympian, Sam was part of the Team GB hockey team who won Gold at this year’s Rio Olympics beating The Netherlands in the final. In total Sam has over 125 caps for both the UK and England hockey teams and has occasionally captained the latter. Away from hockey Sam has also previously worked as a swimwear model so look for her to be a regular in the jungle shower.

Reason for Taking Part: She wants to prove that she’s not just an emotionless athlete and that she has feelings.

Phobias: The usual cockroach and spider combination.

How will she fare?: Sam is another unknown commodity as she’s not a name that is instantly recognisable. I feel as a gold medal winner she’ll at least win some brownie points from the audience however she’ll have to show at least some personality if she wants to progress further in the competition.

Current Odds: 8/1

Scarlett Moffatt

Who is She?: Scarlett is best known for her role as one of the participants in Channel 4’s Gogglebox from the show’s third series onwards. She is known for her candid views as she watches TV alongside parents Mark and Betty. The family have just been dropped from Gogglebox due to Scarlett’s participation in the show. Before Gogglebox, Scarlett also appeared on reality show Beauty School Dropouts and was a recent participant on Celebrity First Dates.

Reason for Taking Part: Apparently she wants to show people that she has legs and also wants to meet Ant and Dec in the flesh.

Phobias: Small spaces and walking across bridges. Also clowns although she does concede that there won’t be many of them in the jungle.

How will she fare? Already a favourite with the British public due to her affable Gogglebox personality, Scarlett for me will go far in the contest. I do also feel that she will initially be picked to do a couple of the bushtucker trials.

Current Odds: She’s favourite to win at 2/1

Wayne Bridge

Who is he?: A retired footballer who played for Chelsea, West Ham, Manchester City and Fulham during his Premier League career. Wayne was also part of the English National Team between 2002 and 2009 making 36 appearances being selected for two world cup squads as well as for the Euro tournament in 2004. Wayne’s personal life hit the headlines after his former teammate John Terry had an affair with his long term girlfriend Vanessa Perroncel shortly after he’d separated with her. Wayne is now married to Frankie from The Saturdays and the couple have two children together.

Reason for Taking Part: Like many of his fellow campers, Wayne wants the viewers to get to know the real him as he hasn’t done many interviews in front of the camera.

Phobias: Apparently he’s scared of everything from all the aforementioned creepy crawlies to sleeping in the jungle itself.

How will he fare? As Wayne admitted himself he’s not really shown the public the real him so it depends how he comes across on screen and how he slots himself into camp life.

Current Odds: Alongside Lisa, Wayne currently has the longest odds at 20/1

I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here begins on Sunday 13th November at 9pm on ITV.
