Today, the nominations have been announced The Virgin Media BAFTA Television awards which will honour the best TV of 2021. It’s a Sin led the nominations in the main categories with seven nominations including nods for cast members Olly Alexander, Lydia West, Callum Scott Howells, Omari Douglas and David Carlyle. The programme is also nominated for Best Miniseries and is one of the contenders for the Virgin Must See TV Moment Award.
Another Channel 4 drama; Help has been nominated in four categories with acting nods for Jodie Comer, Stephen Graham and Cathy Tyson. Meanwhile, in the comedy categories, Stath Lets Flats leads the way with nominations for siblings Jamie and Natasia Demetriou.
The BAFTAs have also honoured four British actors for their performances in international shows with Kate Winslet earning a Best Actress nod for her role in Mare of Easttown and Leah Harvey being nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Foundation. Meanwhile Matthew MacFadyen and Nonso Anozie have both been nominated in the Supporting Actor category for their roles in Succession and Sweet Tooth respectively.
Alongside Colin’s diagnoses scene It’s a Sin, the other nominees for Virgin Media’s Must-See Moment include Rose and Giovanni’s silence dance on Strictly Come Dancing, the infamous Red Light, Green Light sequence from Quid Game and Ant and Dec’s jokes about the Downing Street Parties on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.
