ITV commissions new primetime entertainment format Your Face Sounds Familiar

Alesha Dixon and Paddy McGuinness are set to host Your Face Sounds Familiar, a celebrity entertainment series with a comedy twist. Based on Endemol’s international hit, already picked up in 20 countries and set to air in the USA, the show will launch on ITV later in 2013.

This fun-filled new format will challenge celebrities to perform as different iconic music artists every week before a panel of judges including Julian Clary and Emma Bunton.

In a show that takes making a good impression quite literally, each of our regular cast of celebrities will be transformed into a different legendary singer, and perform an iconic song and dance routine from that artist’s catalogue every week.

But in a unique twist, the celebrities will have no control over who they will perform as on each show.  Instead, they’ll have to face the Your Face Sounds Familiar ‘Randomiser’ at the end of each programme to decide who they’ll be becoming the following week.  Whether it’s an older or a younger artist, or even a star of the opposite sex, the ultimate decision is down to the Randomiser, guaranteeing hilarious and dramatic results.

Performing in front of regular judges Emma and Julian and a special guest judge each week, the celebrities will have to impress as they sing and dance their way through to the finale.

Also, no-one gets evicted in this show. Instead, each contestant is awarded points which will be scored on a leader board. The one with the most points at the end of each show will receive a cash prize for a charity of their choice with a further grand prize pot for the series champion.

Alesha said: “This show is going to be a lot of fun. I can’t wait to see their transformations and spectacular performances.  I know that Paddy and I are going to have our work cut out keeping them all in line!”

Paddy said: “To be given a live show on Saturday night TV is a massive honour. Hairbrushes at the ready, for a proper good old Saturday night sing along.  It’s an honour to be in the same company as Ant and Dec, Dermot O’Leary and lest we not forget, Russ Abbot”.

ITV’s Commissioning Editor for Comedy and Entertainment, Claire Zolkwer, said “Our viewers can expect incredible transformations, great music, unforgettable performances and a lot of laughs in this hilarious new show where just about anything can happen.”

Nick Samwell-Smith, Creative Director of Initial, an Endemol company adds; “Your Face Sounds Familiar is the latest hit comedy entertainment format from Endemol, packed with fun, spectacle, and a great  sense of humour. With well known celebrities delivering iconic classic and modern music performances each week, we’re very excited to be making it for ITV this summer.”

Your Face Sounds Familiar is produced by Initial, an Endemol company for ITV.

It was commissioned by Claire Zolkwer, Commissioning Editor, Comedy Entertainment and Elaine Bedell, ITV’s Director of Entertainment and Comedy.  It will be executive produced by NicMcNeilis and David Staite at Initial.

Created by Endemol Spain, Your Face Sounds Familiar has been sold to 20 countries and counting including the US, China, Russia and across Europe, Latin America and Asia. The show has become a number one hit in nearly every territory it has launched so far.
