ITV have confirmed that extremely popular period drama Mr Selfridge will return for a third series.

The programme stars Jeremy Piven as store-founder Harry Selfridge in a cast that also includes Katherine Kelly, Frances O’Connor, Aisling Loftus and Amanda Abbington.

The current second series is set during the First World War and demonstrates how Harry and his team coped during the conflict. The series is currently attracting a consolidated rating of around five million on a weekly basis.

This news comes a week after the BBC cancelled their shop-based period drama The Paradise which was viewed as Mr Selfridge’s closest rival.

Mr Selfridge is currently airing on Sundays at 9pm on ITV
