Monroe axed by ITV

ITV have announced that medical drama Monroe will not be returning for an anticipated third series. The medical drama, written by Peter Bowker and starring James Nesbitt started in 2011 but the recent second series never quite managed to compete ratings wise with BBC1’s New Tricks. I think it’s a real shame as the series took a new approach to the medical genre and each character felt real, believable and genuine. It’s a shame that such a promising series should be cut down after only two series but the might of New Tricks proved too strong.
