With San Diego’s Comic-Con in full swing, it’s no surprise Netflix used it as a platform to the release the first full trailer of the upcoming novel adaptation The Witcher
The release date for the Netflix Witcher series is expected to be around the end of this year, and with Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich leading the project – whose previous work includes The Defenders, Daredevil and The West Wing – expectation are high. The plot of the Netflix Witcher series is based on the original Andrzej Sapkowski novels and Netflix describes it as “the Witcher Geralt, a mutated monster hunter, struggles to find his place in world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.”
It has been confirmed that Henry Cavill will play Geralt of Rivia. Cavill had publicly expressed interest in the role in August 2018, telling IGN he’d “absolutely” be willing to take on the “amazing role”. But plot twist: it turns out that at the time of that interview, he had already met with writer Lauren S. Hissrich, and she knew she wanted him for the part.
Other key cast include Lars Mikkelsen, Jodhi May, Shaun Dooley and Freya Allan
The series is expected globally on Netflix before the end of the year.
