*The BBC have released the first trailer for their upcoming drama The Tourist which stars Jamie Dornan.  Written by brothers Harry and Jack Williams, The Tourist sees Dornan stars as a British man who finds himself in the glowing red heart of the Australian outback, being pursued by a vast tank truck trying to drive him off the road. An epic cat and mouse chase unfolds and the man later wakes in hospital, hurt, but somehow alive. Except he has no idea who he is. With merciless figures from his past pursuing him, The Man’s search for answers propels him through the vast and unforgiving outback. Full of shocking, surprising, funny and brutal turns, The Tourist is set in a world populated by quirky, enigmatic characters and off-beat comedy punctuates high-stakes action. At its heart however, is a story of self-discovery with a ticking timebomb underneath: as The Man starts to uncover the mystery of who he was, he’s also forced to ask who he is now – and fast. Will he unlock the secrets of his identify before those who are trying to kill him catch up with him?

The Tourist is expected to be the first BBC drama of 2022.

*Sony Pictures Television has signaled its big UK drama ambitions by taking a majority stake in His Dark Materials and I Hate Suzie producer Bad Wolf. The deal includes the Wolf Studios Wales sound stage facility in Cardiff along with Bad Wolf’s 30% stake in sister company Bad Wolf America. Sony also takes over Sky, HBO and Access Entertainment’s minority stakes. Jane Tranter (Co-founder, Bad Wolf), said “Sony share our vision for the company going forward… With a forward-looking, global corporation like Sony investing in the future of Bad Wolf and Wales it gives us the ability to reach even greater heights in the years to come.”

*Deadline is reporting that Netflix is planning to expand the Money Heist universe when the hit Spanish Netlfix Original comes to an end at the end of the year. The streamer has ordered a spinoff of the hit Spanish drama series, centered around popular character Berlin, otherwise known as Andrés de Fonollosa, played by Pedro Alonso. *Channel 4 have confirmed the lineup for the next series of TaskmasterHoping to win valuable points, eternal glory, and favourable treatment from the Taskmaster are: stand-up, actor, and author Ardal O’Hanlon (Father Ted), award-winning comedian Bridget Christie, stand-up comedian and TV host Chris Ramsey, comedian and presenter Judi Love (Loose Women), and comedian, actress, and podcaster Sophie Duker. Having voluntarily signed up for the inevitable metaphorical slaughter at the hands of the tyrannical Taskmaster, each contestant will be put through their paces in a brand new set of tasks designed to test their daring, dexterity and dignity under extreme pressure. Who of our latest quintet will be immortalised in the Taskmaster Champion hall of fame? Taskmaster will return to Channel 4 in 2022.

*AMC have announced that the upcoming second series of their comedy-drama, Kevin Can F**k Himself will be the shows’ last. The first season, which is part multi-cam comedy and part single-camera dark drama, followed the story of Allison McRoberts (Annie Murphy), a woman we all grew up believing we knew: the prototypical Sitcom Wife. She’s beautiful and can take a joke, though she’s usually the butt of them. And she’s married to Kevin (Eric Peterson), a guy who must’ve won some sort of marriage lottery, because she looks the way she does and he’s … funny. The series broke television convention via volleying camera setups and allowed the audience to see what happened when the cameras followed Allison out of her husband’s domain and as she finally wakes up to — and revolts against — the injustices in her life. It was previously reported that Annie Murphy will join the cast of Natasha Lyonne’s Netflix drama Russian Doll for its second season.
