
‘Succession’ leads the pack.
Earlier this week the Golden Globes announced their nominations for the non-televised ceremony to be held on the 9th January.
Of the shows nominated in the TV categories, Succession led the way with five nominations with cast members Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin and Sarah Snook all getting a nod whilst the show itself was included in the Best Drama Category. Another Best Drama contender, Apple TV+’s The Morning Show also featured heavily in the nominations with Jennifer Aniston getting a Best Actress nod alongside Best Supporting Actor nominees Billy Crudp and Mark Duplass. Two of Netflix’s foreign offerings; Lupin and Squid Game, also featured in the Best Drama Category with Omar Sy earning a best actor nod for his role as the charismatic thief in the former whilst Lee Jung-jae and Oh Yeong-su were nominated for the latter. Rounding off the Best Drama category was Pose, whose stars MJ Rodriguez and Billy Porter earned nods in the Best Actor and Actress categories respectively. Also contending for the dramatic actress prize will be In Treatment’sUzo Aduba and Elizabeth Moss for The Handmaid’s Tale.

The cast of Apple TV + hit ‘Ted Lasso’
Ted Lasso featured heavily in the comedy TV category netting nominations for the show itself as well as for Emmy winners Jason Sudekis, Hannah Waddingham and Brett Goldstein. Martin Short and Steve Martin both earned nominations for their roles in Only Murders in the Building whilst Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult were recognised for their performances in The Great. Those two shows were joined by a third Hulu offering; Reservation Dogs in the Best Comedy category alongside Hacks whose stars Jean Smart and Hannah Einbender also received nominations. Other comedy nominees include Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross for Black-ish and Issa Rae for Insecure.

Margaret Qualley in ‘Maid’
Maid and Dopesick both earned three nominations in the Best Miniseries or TV Movie category with Michael Keaton and Kaitlyn Dever received nods for the latter and mother and daughter Andie MacDowall and Margaret Qualley getting nominated for the former. Kate Winslet was the sole acting nominee for Mare of Easttown which was joined by Impeachment: American Crime Story and The Underground Railroad to contend for this category’s top prize. Other nominees in this category included WandaVision’s Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, Scenes from a Marriage’s Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain and The Serpent’s Tahir Rahim. Ewan McGregor is also nominated for his Emmy-winning role in Halston as is another British star; Cynthia Erivo who has received a nod in Genius: Aretha.
