Poldark to return for Second Series

BBC One have announced that Sunday night costume drama Poldark will return for a second series.

Starring Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson, the new adaptations of Winston Graham’s novels have proved popular with audiences. The series has currently got an average consolidated audience of eight million has been a hit with the majority of critics.

BBC One controller Charlotte Moore exclusively revealed the news during the announcement of BBC One’s record-breaking performance during the first Quarter of 2015.

Moore said of the news, “Sunday’s night new phenomenon Poldark that has captured the nations’ hearts has been commissioned for a second series.”

Turner and Tomlinson will return as Ross Poldark and Demelza respectively in a new eight-part series. Debbie Horsfield will return as lead writer, adapting books three and four of Winston Graham’s series.

Poldark continues at 9pm on BBC One on Sunday
