Fans have taken to twitter tovoice their opinions on today’s news that the BBC have decided not to give the series another go.
Tweets we have received included
@LukeCustardtv Lousy, short-sighted knee-jerk decision-making. The BBC has lost its bottle.

@LukeCustardtv The language used makes this one of the most authentic bits of TV at the moment. Great cast which had found its niche #gutted

@LukeCustardtv It’s a massive shame, but sadly the viewers aren’t there to justify the cost so I don’t blame the BBC.

So #RipperStreet has a 2nd series announced before the 1st has finished airing, then is axed before the 2nd has finished airing. Brutal.

If this is true then the BBC need a kick up the bum. #RipperStreet is the best show on TV right now. http://t.co/p7xAPxQZGP

.@Hughes89N @LukeCustardtv @BBC Why aren’t *we* in charge? We’d clearly be brilliant at being in charge!
— Steve Spicer (@BunchOfSteve) December 4, 2013
As often happens in matters like this a Twitter account has already been set up which is attempting to get fans to sign a petition to send to BBC in a hope of turning the decision around.
@LukeCustardtv Help us save Ripper Street from the BBC’s axe. Follow, RT and prepare for on-line petition.
— Save Ripper Street (@SaveRipperSt) December 4, 2013
Ripper Street will conclude Monday 16th December on BBC ONE.
