Sky have released the first trailer for the highly anticipated return of the Chris O’Dowd led sitcom Moone Boy.
Following the adventures of 12-year-old Martin Moone (David Rawle), the twinkly-eyed series celebrated family life as he set about growing up amid his chaotic clan, ably assisted by imaginary friend Sean Murphy (O’Dowd), who was always on hand with some not-so-wise words of advice.
Now, with both an IFTA and International Emmy Award under its belt, Moone Boy is back for a second series, delivering more whimsical nostalgia and laugh-out-loud humour than you can shake a hurling stick at.
Series 2 sees things move to 1990 and as Martin starts secondary school, he and Sean carefully navigate life’s big hurdles, from falling in love to the awkward school disco, as well as entering the world of work for the first time. As football fever sweeps Ireland, the Moones get caught up in the euphoria of Italia 90, while chaos reigns when new neighbours move in and Martin’s sister Fidelma prepares for motherhood.
Johnny Vegas reprises his role as Crunchie Haystacks, the imaginary pal of Martin’s best friend Padraic (Ian O’Reilly), with Simon Day and Amy Huberman also making guest appearances.
Moone Boy returns 17th February at 9pm, the first episode of series 1 will be available for all to view at; youtube.com/skyfirstepisodes from 1st February
