Television in 2024 felt different. Things slowed down. You could feel broadcasters and streaming platforms straining to deliver the volume of shows we've been accustomed to and the heavy reliance on making shows out 'existing IP' made a lot of the output feel lazy,...

Welcome back to another look at what was an incredibly mixed week in the world of TV. As we approach the halfway point of 2015 it's fair to say that this year's TV hasn't been the greatest. In fact most of the best British TV shows have come from Channel 4 and that...
In the latest podcast we discuss the appointment of Chris Evans to front Top Gear. Give our views on the new X Factor judges, and review the superb new Channel 4 drama Humans as well as The Met: Policing London and spend time with The Tribe. Download this...
It's important before you read this review that you know I'm not a sci-fi, fan. I've nothing against it, I just prefer my drama to be set in a world I can relate to, where something happening on screen could happen. Saying that, wasn't channel 4's sci-fi drama Humans...
So we've done it! We've reached the end of the year. 2014 wasn't as packed as last year, but when it was good, it was very good indeed. Sherlock - Series 3 (January 2014, BBC1) 2014 began with one of the most anticipated returns in a long time when we all sat round to...
Channel 4 have confirmed further details of their upcoming 8-part drama Humans. William Hurt (A History of Violence, Damages), Katherine Parkinson (The IT Crowd, The Honourable Woman), Tom Goodman-Hill (Mr Selfridge), Colin Morgan (Merlin, The Fall), Rebecca...

Every so often, a program comes along that makes you want to stand up and applaud when it finishes. The Honourable Woman more than deserved that accolade. While the series as a whole was not without its glitches, the finale was sublime. Maggie Gyllenhaal gave British...
I’m afraid if you came to this review hoping for a gentle hand-holding guide as to what exactly just happened, you came to the wrong place. I know that Ephra’s dead, along with Burnt Face Man. I know Monica is the big fat spider in the web, and I know that...
I began this episode in mute horror at poor Nessa having to endure another rape. Although, it was helpful to see examples of rape happening in all sorts of situations, while I imagine many Western women will never be raped by a terrorist who has kidnapped them, having...
Most television audiences will be familiar with the work of Kay Mellor. From Fat Friends and Playing the Field to The Syndicate, the writer/director of 'In the Club' has always exhibited a strong desire to tell honest, Northern, family-driven stories with humour and...
The body count continued to rise this week, but luckily we now know when a character is for it. If they put their whole hand on a door panel, that’s it, curtains! While it was incredibly brave of the lecturer to speak out against the University’s racism, you knew it...
Well that was a fun episode! In all seriousness, we did, finally get some answers. And some pretty big revelations. Question now being, how much does Nessa know? Let’s start with that brilliant dinner party argument that so bored Hugh. It was basically how my twitter...
I do love a happy ending! Which is a shame, as we’re clearly not going to get one in The Honourable Woman. My brain is trying to make terrible puns about Nathaniel making tasty sausages, so apologies, but that was a grim, if not unexpected, scene. To be honest, I knew...
In our first podcast since The World Cup finished we discuss the weird and wonderful programmes we've discovered during all the sports and we finally unveil the first 'postcards from the eels'!
Given the recent news events in the Middle East, I’d like to start this review with a quick disclaimer. I do not know enough about the ongoing conflict to hold a view either way. As such, I will be commenting solely on what happens in The Honourable Woman, any good...
A BBC drama, written, produced and directed by Hugo Blick, starring a rather impressive cast including a Hollywood A lister. Fair to say I had high expectations of The Honourable Woman, the new Middle Eastern spy drama that aired tonight. Thankfully, The Honourable...
