BBC One have today announced that The Great British Bake-Off will return on Wednesday August 6th.

The fifth series of the baking show will be the first to be aired on BBC One after achieving record ratings on BBC Two over the past four years. Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry will return as judges whilst Mel and Sue will host once again.

In addition the BBC have announced a weekly BBC Two show, An Extra Slice which will be presented by Jo Brand. The programme will air on Friday nights at 9pm and will feature interviews with that week’s eliminated baker.

Speaking of her role on the show Jo says, “I am absolutely delighted to have been asked to be part of An Extra Slice. As someone who obviously loves cakes but also, keeps a very strict eye on my figure and exercises assiduously to keep healthy, I hope I am a worthy candidate to represent the Borough Of Baking.”

The BBC have confirmed The Bake-off will return on Wednesday 6th August on BBC ONE.
