Sky Atlantic have announced that their multi-lingual drama The Tunnel will return for a second series in 2016.

Starring Stephen Dillane and Clémence Poésy, The Tunnel was an adaptation of Scandinavian crime drama The Bridge. However the second series, subtitled Debris, won’t follow the structure of The Bridge series two and instead will be an original story.

Sky Atlantic Director Zai Bennett said of the news, “Boasting fantastic nuanced performances by Clémence Poésy and Stephen Dillane and a totally gripping story, it is easy to see why the first series of this crime thriller struck a real chord with Sky Atlantic viewers. The Tunnel 2: Debris reunites the acting tour-de-force with world-class writing and production teams, ensuring this new original series will have customers on the edge of their seats once more.”

Additionally Julia Davis’ surreal sitcom Hunderby will return for a one-off two-hour special which will pick up from the series one finale.

Sky’s Head of Comedy Lucy Lumsden commented on the news saying, “we couldn’t be happier about the return to Hunderby, Julia Davis is such a rare talent and Sky Atlantic the perfect home for her unique voice and vision.”
