9.00pm The Day Mountbatten Died BBC2 – On 27 August, 1979, Lord Louis Mountbatten, great uncle to Prince Charles, was blown up at sea by the IRA off the west coast of Ireland. Three others were killed on the boat that day, including two teenage boys, and later that afternoon the IRA killed 18 British soldiers across the border in Northern Ireland. Forty years on, this documentary tells the story of that remarkable Bank Holiday Monday told by those directly affected by it.

9.00pm Cop Control Channel 4 – Documentary going behind the scenes with the Devon and Cornwall police force, showing the critical decisions that the communications and control centre team makes each day.

10.00pm Stath Lets Flats Channel 4 – Second series of the comedy from Jamie Demetriou. New boss Julian is making changes at Michael & Eagle and when he unveils a slick new promo with no mention of the family, Stath decides to make his own rival video.


8.00pm Train Your Baby like a Dog Channel 4 – Animal behaviourist Jo-Rosie Haffenden discusses applying her methods to parenting, and how a greater emphasis on rewarding positive actions than punishing bad behaviour can turn infants into caring and compassionate human beings. The programme follows her as she works with a three-year-old prone to violent tantrums and an 18-month-old baby who refuses to sleep in her own cot.

9.00pm Fighter Pilot: The Real Top Gun ITV – Documentary following three trainees at Britain’s elite fighter pilot school, including the establishment’s only female student.

10.35pm Heartbreak Holliday BBC1 – Documentary following 10 strangers united by heartbreak as they head off for the summer of a lifetime around the Greek islands. In each episode, they will be joined by a surprise visitor from home who will force them to confront their past and help them move on with help from their new found friends.


8.00pm Jamie Oliver: The Naked Chef Bares All Channel 4 – Presented by Davina McCall, this documentary charts the life of the celebrity chef, looking back at memorable moments throughout his career: his accidental discovery at The River CafÚ, his rise to fame as iconic an Brit-pop chef, his unwavering campaigning to improve the food system, and the more recent closure of his Jamie’s Italian restaurant group. As well as his career, the programme also features exclusive access to Jamie’s private family life, uncovering emotional revelations and personal insights surrounding the two decades he has spent in the spotlight.

10.00pm Naked Attraction Channel 4 – Anna Richardson hosts a fresh run of the dating show.


8.00pm Kirstie and Phil’s Love it or List it Channel 4 – The property pair revisit couples who have taken part in the series.

9.00pm The Octopus in My House BBC2 – Wildlife documentary observing Professor David Scheel as he takes an octopus into his home to learn about its intelligence, and the extraordinary relationship he and his daughter develop with the creature.

10.00pm Brassic Sky1 – Comedy about a group of working-class friends finding unconventional ways to win at life in northern suburbia, starring Joe Gilgun and Michelle Keegan. After a day involving a cross-country car chase, a Shetland pony, a jar of chloroform and a pigeon named Nigel, Vinnie and his crew become tangled up with a local crime boss who sets out to make an example of them.
