7.30pm The Royal Variety Performance 2013 ITV – John Bishop hosts this year’s Royal Variety Performance from the London Palladium in the presence of HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall. The star-studded line up includes Gary Barlow, Olly Murs, Jessie J, Mary J Blige, Bryn Terfel, Gareth Malone, Dame Edna Everage, Jimmy Carr, Seann Walsh, Jason Byrne, Hal Cruttenden, Chas and Dave, Rizzle Kicks, Attraction, the cast of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Torvill and Dean, Flavia Cacace, and Harry Hill, who introduces an exclusive preview of his forthcoming production I Can’t Sing – X Factor the Musical.


9.00pm Heston’s Great British Food Channel 4 –  Heston Blumenthal takes one iconic British dish per episode to reveal its secret history, to use as inspiration for an incredible culinary salute. In the first episode, Heston discovers how the industrial age fuelled the proliferation of chip shops; he reveals the heyday of ‘fish Friday’ and the part that fish and chips played in World War II. Then Heston sets out to create a magical fish and chip supper. Inspired by Henry VIII’s ingenious chefs, Heston makes fake fish skin from truffle, madeira gel and sea urchin to sit on top of a piece of battered turbot.


8.00pm I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!: Coming Out ITV – Programme following the famous campmates as they leave the jungle and return to their old celebrity lives. After a tough, emotional and possibly life-changing experience in the Australian wilderness, how will the I’m a Celebrity… class of 2013 react when they leave the rainforest and reunite with their friends and family for the first time?

8.00pm Superscrimpers Christmas Cracker Channel 4 –  Mrs Moneypenny and her team reveal their tips on how to have a merry but frugal Christmas.

9.00pm Sports Personality of the Year at 60 BBC1 –  Gary Lineker looks back on the 60-year history of BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

9.00pm Lucan ITV – First of a two-part drama recounting the events of a crime that shocked the nation and led to a fascinating mystery that has never been solved. In 1974, with escalating gambling debts and his marriage collapsing, Lord Lucan resorts to desperate measures to win custody of his children, with deadly consequences.


9.00pm Christmas Supermarket Secrets BBC1 – Gregg Wallace goes behind the scenes with Britain’s biggest food retailers over the course of a year to discover how they source, make and move the food we find on the supermarket shelves.

9.00pm There’s Something About Susan ITV – Susan Boyle has sold over 20 million records worldwide, but she has suffered from anxiety all her life and has never performed a live solo tour – until now. This documentary follows Susan as she prepares for a series of sell-out concerts across her native Scotland, then a huge stadium gig in front of 20,000 fans in America. If things go well a world tour is on the cards, but can she cope with the pressure?

9.00pm The British Comedy Awards Channel 4 – At the UK’s premier comedy awards ceremony, the British Comedy Awards unites the comedy world to celebrate all the great LOLs from the year and to award the much lusted after title King or Queen of Comedy. Hosted by Jonathan Ross, the awards are 100% live.

9.00pm Mummy’s Little Murderer Five – Documentary. In May 2011, 20-year-old ex-public schoolboy Elliot Turner strangled his girlfriend Emily Longley, then persuaded his doting parents to help him cover up the murder. With unprecedented television access to those closely connected to the case, this film reveals through emotional interviews, personal archive, covert recordings and CCTV how a spoilt rich kid became a brutal murderer.

9.00pm The Big Christmas Reunion ITV2 – Ten years after their music dominated the airways, and after a phenomenal comeback year, the bands from hit series The Big Reunion are back in the recording studio to produce a Christmas single in aid of Text Santa. The Big Christmas Reunion gives viewers an access all areas pass to see what happens behind the scenes when – for the first time ever – Blue, Atomic Kitten, 5ive, The Honeyz, B*Witched, 911 and Liberty X join forces to record music together. As they are put through their paces by legendary music producer Cutfather, cameras capture all the drama, excitement, rivalry and pressure as 26 pop stars come together with just two days to record a Christmas hit.


9.00pm Boyzone at 20: No Matter What ITV – Dannii Minogue presents a special one-off programme to mark Irish chart-toppers Boyzone’s 20th anniversary in the music business.
