9.00pm Happy Hour with Olly Murs ITV – For one night only, join Olly Murs in his old stomping ground in Essex as he takes over an entire pub and puts on a night of games, chat, and of course special performances of all his biggest hits. Olly is joined by some very familiar famous faces including Bradley Walsh, Emma Willis, Rochelle Humes, Chris and Kem, and Sir Tom Jones as well as a surprise mystery guest.

9.00pm Death on the Tyne GOLD – All-star comedy mystery following on from Murder on the Blackpool Express, focusing on an eventful and bloody overnight ferry trip to Amsterdam. With Johnny Vegas and Sian Gibson.


7.00pm Sports Personality of the Year BBC1 – Gabby Logan, Clare Balding and Gary Lineker present BBC Sports Personality of the Year live from Birmingham, celebrating a sensational year of sport. In front of a 12,000-strong crowd, including 1,000 sporting greats, the event, now in its 65th year, reviews 2018’s magical moments and rewards some of its standout achievers. 

9.00pm The Apprentice: The Final BBC1 – After 12 tasks, Lord Sugar hires his newest business partner. 

9.00pm Best Christmas with Alexander Armstrong ITV – Alexander Armstrong is joined by some very special celebrity guests who are on a mission to find out what makes the best Christmas ever! The show will be filled with fun, chat and live music as Alexander’s celebrity guests go head-to-head to get their favourite bits of Christmas voted ‘the best’ by our studio audience.


8.30pm Mary Berry’s Christmas Party BBC1 – Mary opens her kitchen to four eager, if somewhat nervous celebrities, Huw Edwards, Dina Asher-Smith, Eleanor Tomlinson and Joe Lycett, all hoping to fine-tune their festive cookery skills. Mary teaches them some of her mouth-watering Christmas recipes that are perfect for entertaining across Christmas week, and even on the big day itself. 

9.00pm Lost Long Family: Christmas Reunion ITV – Davina McCall and Nicky Campbell revisit some of the programme’s and the families for a Christmas reunion.

8.00pm Gogglesprogs Christmas Special Channel 4 – The UK’s youngest TV critics return after a two-year break for this special festive edition, giving their uninhibited opinions and hilarious take on some of our favourite TV and films. 

9.00pm The Long Song BBC1 – Three-part drama set during the final days of slavery in 19th-century Jamaica. July is born to field slave Kitty at the Amity sugar cane plantation run by John Howarth and his younger sister Caroline. On a spoilt whim, Caroline decides she wants to train July as her personal maid. So, as a young girl, July is taken from her mother and forced to live in the great house. As July grows up and becomes a teenager, she learns how to ‘handle’ her mistress, with her own small victories along the way. The Christmas riots and the abolition of slavery turn the world of Amity upside down and throw July’s destiny into question. But when order is restored and a new overseer Robert Goodwin arrives at Amity, July and Caroline are both intrigued by his seemingly revolutionary plans to improve the plantation. Could his ideals change everything? Lenny Henry and Hayley Attwell star. Continues Tomorrow, Concludes Thursday.

9.00pm Grizzly Bear Cubs & Me BBC2 – Gordon Buchanan is rehabilitating six orphaned baby grizzly bears back to the wild… in just nine months. Gordon joins the Pazhetnovs, a pioneering family of biologists in snowy Russia. The Pazhetnovs have been rescuing orphaned cubs for nearly three decades and have successfully returned over 200 of them back to the wild. Gordon arrives in February when six cubs have just been rescued. They are just five weeks old and each weighs less than a bag of sugar. group is made up of three pairs of brothers. Continues Tomorrow.

9.00pm Caught on Camera: Weather From Hell ITV – Britain has seen some of its most extreme weather in a generation. Featuring jaw-dropping footage and dramatic stories, all filmed by people caught in the middle of extreme weather, this episode includes a lightning bolt that wrecks a home with a family inside, a man caught in an avalanche and how a family was nearly swept away in a freak holiday storm.

9.00pm The Undateables: A Festive Proposal Channel 4 – As Lizzie and Joseph make plans to host their first ever Christmas party, Ray and Christine opt for a more intimate meal just for two.


8.00pm Jamie’s Quick & Easy Christmas Channel 4 – Jamie Oliver applies his quick and easy principles to the Christmas season. Each recipe is either quick to cook or easy to remember, focussing on genius combinations of just five ingredients to create a fabulous Christmas feast.

9.00pm World Cup: The Summer of Love ITV – The memorable story is retold by the manager and players inside the camp and complemented by the insights of those who followed their journey back home.

9.00pm The World’s Most Extraordinary Christmas Dinners Channel 4 – This programme meets the people whose ambition and creativity have no limits as they strive to achieve the world’s most extraordinary Christmas dinners. 

10.00pm Insert Name Here BBC2 – Sue Perkins hosts the comedy panel show about people with just one thing in common – they all have the same name. In this series opener, Josh Widdicombe is joined by Chris Packham and historian Suzannah Lipscomb and Richard Osman is joined by Carol Vorderman and James Acaster.

10.00pm Celebrity Call Centre at Christmas Channel 4 – Taking calls from the great British public are Strictly finalist Debbie McGee, Countdown’s Nick Hewer, Goggleboxers Steph and Dom Parker, actress Amanda Barrie, Ackley Bridge star Sunetra Sarker, comedian James Acaster and Radio 1 DJ Gemma Cairney.


9.00pm The ‘Christmas’ Misadventures of Romesh Ranganathan BBC2 – Comedian and TV presenter Romesh Ranganathan is travelling the furthest he’s ever travelled outside of his cosy comfort zone as he heads to one of the coldest and most hostile environments on earth. Romesh gets an insider’s guide to the Canadian Arctic and finds out if his preconceptions about this remote part of the world are right, or whether there is more to this area than the prospect of freezing to death or being eaten by a polar bear. 

9.00pm Bear’s Mission with Gareth Southgate ITV – The leader of the Three Lions squad joins Bear on a mission across the wilds of Dartmoor.


9.00pm Not Going Out: LIVE BBC1 – A  live edition of the sitcom. Lee and Lucy are nervously discussing the Ding Dong Merrily on Live Christmas Spectacular – the Christmas variety show they have been strong-armed into organising to raise money for their children’s school.
