8.00pm Perry & Croft: Made in Britain BBC2 – From Dad’s Army to You Rang, M’Lord?, the comedies of Jimmy Perry and David Croft are a unique chronicle of Britain in the 20th century. Part one examines the British at war.

8.30pm Atlantis BBC1 – Second series of the fantasy drama. A year has passed and much has changed. With her father dead, Ariadne is queen and finds herself at war with her old adversary, Pasiphae. As the kingdom stands on the brink of collapse, the struggle for power is both bloody and brutal. With the future looking bleak, there is only one person Ariadne dares turn to for help: Jason.

9.00pm It Was Alright in the 1970’s Channel 4 – This new two-part series revisits the TV decade that taste forgot. Narrated by Matt Lucas and featuring jaw-dropping clips, It Was Alright in the 1970s meets the people who appeared in the programmes, those who watched them and those who made them, and asks ‘what were you thinking?’ The first episode concentrates on pleasure and leisure on TV in the 70s, with some of the featured clips including outrageous sex jokes in pre-watershed sitcoms, smoking fags on prime-time panel shows, the history of pipe smoking on kids TV, and St Bernard dogs being offered for prizes.


9.00pm World’s Greatest Food Markets BBC2 – Following a dream of visiting and trading in the world’s greatest food markets, Billingsgate trader Roger Barton heads across the Atlantic to New York’s New Fulton market, the biggest fish market in America.

9.00pm I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! ITV – Ant and Dec present the fourteenth series of the celebrity jungle survival challenge. I’m a Celebrity… returns with a new group of jungle campmates. They face gruelling challenges from the start, but which celebrity will be chosen by the public to undergo the first dreaded Bushtucker Trial of the series? Continues All Week!


9.00pm Dancing Cheek to Cheek: An Intimate History of Dance BBC4 –  Series in which Len Goodman and Lucy Worsley uncover the British love affair with dancing as they explore the nation’s favourite dances from the 17th to the 20th centuries and discover what they reveal about our social history. They look at how dancing went from being frowned upon as dangerous and debauched in the 17th century to being celebrated as an essential social skill in the 18th century, joining a group of performing arts students on Ickwell village green to learn the cushion dance, a 17th-century favourite with a raunchy reputation. Len uncovers the long history of English country dancing at Middle Temple Hall and Lucy reveals how King Louis XIV set the fashions followed on this side of the channel.

10.00pm Some Girls BBC3 – Third and final series of the comedy series following the lives and loves of four close friends on their bumpy journey through sixth form. The girls are back for their final term at Greenshoots Academy and itis time to knuckle down to some hard work, except other much more important stuff keeps getting in the way – like going to a music festival, football trials, babies, preparing for prom and some seriously complicated romances with a string of new boys.

10.00pm The World’s Most Extreme Bridges More4 – The World’s Most Extreme visits the most jaw-dropping places in the world in search of adrenaline, danger and excitement. This episode checks out the planet’s 10 most extreme bridges. From Nepal and Japan to Bolivia and Russia, there are bridges that demonstrate extreme engineering and stand in unforgettable locations.


9.00pm Secrets of the Castle With Ruth, Peter & Tom BBC2 – Historian Ruth Goodman and archaeologists Peter Ginn and Tom Pinfold turn the clock back to learn the skills of medieval castle builders by joining the largest archaeological experiment in the world. Although Britain has some of the finest remaining castles of the medieval period, many of their secrets have been lost in time. The origins of Britain’s castles are French, introduced at the time of the Norman Conquest of 1066. So Ruth, Peter and Tom travel to Guedelon, in the Burgundy region of France, where an ambitious project is under way to build a medieval castle from scratch, using only the materials and tools available in the 13th century.


10.00pm Confessions of a Copper Channel 4 – With the onset of increasingly strict regulations, health and safety rules and political correctness, this two-part series, Confessions Of, looks at whether many of our professionals have lost the respect and authority they once held so dear and took for granted. With surprising, candid, shocking and very personal confessions, ordinary coppers annd GPs lift the lid on their working lives.

10.35pm Live at the Apollo BBC1 – Stand-up comedy from the Hammersmith Apollo. Sarah Millican introduces sets from two of comedy’s biggest stars, Joe Lycett and Russell Kane.

9.00pm Ben Fogle: New Lives in the Wild Five – Documentary series in which adventurer Ben Fogle meets people who have given up the rat race to start a new life in the wilderness. Ben heads to the sand dunes of Namibia to live with 50-year-old Gideon David and his young family in the largest conservation area on the African continent. Ben discovers what turned Gideon into a master bushman after he quit his career as an insurance salesman for life in the arid desert.
