9.00pm Bodyguard BBC1 – Thrilling six-part drama series from creator of Line of Duty Jed Mercurio and starring Keeley Hawes & Richard Madden. After distinguishing himself by courageously neutralising a terrorist threat, troubled war veteran Police Sergeant David Budd of the Metropolitan Police’s Royalty and Specialist Protection Branch is assigned as a principal protection officer to the home secretary, the Rt Hon Julia Montague MP. Julia is a controversial politician intent on pushing a new counterterrorism bill through Parliament which would give the security service enhanced surveillance powers. Her political ambitions make Julia a high-profile target. Dedicated to his job but concealing deep resentment of politicians following his traumas in Helmand, David’s divided loyalties might make him Julia’s greatest threat. *Episode 2 airs Tomorrow night at 9.00pm*


9.00pm Drinkers Like Me: Adrian Chiles BBC2 – In this revealingly intimate documentary, Adrian Chiles takes a long hard look at his own love of boozing. He wants to find out why he and many others don’t think they are addicted to alcohol, despite finding it almost impossible to enjoy life without it. Adrian, who drinks almost every day, decides to start a drinking diary and soon finds out his intake is way over the recommended limit. He decides to visit his parents to find out what it was that motivated him to start drinking as a teenager and reveals that sneaking into pubs underage was all about friendship and being part of something, and that the allure of the social side of drinking has never really left him since his teens.

9.00pm Speed with Guy Martin: F1 Special Channel 4 – Guy Martin built his racing reputation on two wheels, but now he’s switching to four, to take part in his first ever Formula 1 race, as he goes head to head with 2009 F1 world champion Jenson Button around Silverstone Grand Prix circuit.

8.00pm The Great British Bake Off Channel 4 – The white tent awaits 12 of the nation’s best amateur bakers, as they take their place under the critical eye of judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith with Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig returning for presenting duties. Breaking with tradition, this year the series kicks off with Biscuit Week. The bakers tackle signature biscuits that will say something both about them and a place in the British Isles. Next the bakers face their first Technical, and hiding under the gingham cloth is one of Paul’s childhood favourites – an iconic biscuit that’s sure to send the bakers round in circles. Finally, it’s crunch time. The bakers will have to be picture perfect with their first showstopper – a spectacular 3D biscuit portrait challenge that requires precision baking and superb decorating skills. Three challenges, three chances to win star baker, three chances to avoid leaving the tent.

9.20pm First Dates Hotel Channel 4 – Fred Sirieix and the team return for a new series, as singletons from across the UK check in to the ultimate Latin love hotel deep in the Italian countryside.

9.00pm Our Everest Challenge with Ben Fogle and Victoria Pendleton ITV – Broadcaster and adventurer Ben Fogle faces the challenge of a lifetime, alongside his friend and double Olympic gold medallist Victoria Pendleton CBE: to scale Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak, at an altitude of 8,848 metres. After two years of preparation, the film exclusively follows the pair to the Nepalese capital Kathmandu, to prepare for their summit attempt.

9.00pm Flights from Hell: Caught on Camera Channel 4 – With passenger numbers skyrocketing, airports and planes are increasingly becoming pressurised environments, where it can, and frequently does, kick off. Jaw-dropping footage captured by people who were there highlights some of the most dramatic, extraordinary and unusual moments that UK passengers have experienced this year.
