7.30pm Speechless E4 – US comedy starring Minnie Driver and John Ross Bowie. Maya DiMeo is a mother on a mission who will do anything for her husband Jimmy and her kids: Ray, Dylan, and JJ – her eldest son, who has cerebral palsy and uses a communication board to converse. To that end, she has moved the family to a new home and school (the sixth in two years), as she has finally found a class with a full-time aide who can serve as JJ’s voice. The rest of the family isn’t exactly on board and Maya must use her powers of persuasion to bring them over to her side, but a disastrous first day leaves her doubting herself.
9.00pm The Choir: Our School by the Tower BBC2 – The school next to Grenfell Tower asks Gareth Malone to help pupils create a concert to mark the reopening of their building. They find they have a unique and moving story to tell.

9.00pm 24 Hours in Custody Channel 4 – The Bafta Award-nominated series that follows the work of Bedfordshire Police around the clock returns with new episodes that go behind the scenes of police investigations into major crimes. In a compelling 90-minute feature-length first episode, cameras follow the police as they hunt two separate stranger rapists and struggle to bring them to justice to prevent them striking again.

10.00pm Timewasters ITV2 – Our time travelling jazz band are back for another spin through time in series two. This time round they’re transported to 1950’s London where the future has arrived: the birth of the teenager, slick-haired Teddy Boys, the vibrant Windrush crowd, box-fresh televisions and – crucially – the dawn of Rock n’ Roll.
