8.00pm Africa 2012: Countdown to the Rains BBC2 – Kate Humble and Simon King track a group of animals in a sun-scorched area of Zambia as they prepare for the rainy season. 

9.00pm Richard Hammond Builds a Planet BBC1 – The presenter embarks on several audacious experiments in order to explore the science of creating an entire Earth-like world. 

10.50pm No Fire Zone Channel 4 – This powerful documentary looks at Sri Lanka’s crimes against humanity that are alleged to have happened during the country’s bloody civil war. 


2.15pm The Indian Doctor BBC1 – Sanjeev Bhaskar reprises his role as Dr Prem Sharma as the genial period drama returns for a week’s worth of episodes. 

3.00pm Pressure Pad BBC1 – John Barrowman hosts this new general knowledge quiz in which contestants must face great pressure in order to walk off with a cash prize. 

8.30pm Masterchef: The Professionals BBC2 – The series which looks to crown Britain’s top professional chef returns as Greg Wallace and Monica Galetti judge which chefs are ready to cook for Michel Roux Jr. 

9.00pm The Choir: Sing While You Work BBC2 – Gareth Malone is back putting more workplace choirs together in order to have them compete against each. In this first instalment, Gareth is tasked with getting the staff of a P&O Ferries fleet to sing in union. 

10.00pm Fresh Meat Channel 4 – The third series of the student sitcom returns with JP on the lookout for love, Vod welcoming a holiday fling and Kingsley mourning Josie, who is now living in Southampton. 


9.00pm Britain on the Fiddle BBC1 – Richard Bilton attempts to track down the fraudsters and cheats who effectively steal millions of pounds in taxpayers’ money every year. 

10.00pm One Born: What Happened Next? More 4 – This series catches up with some of the couples featured on the maternity ward documentary to see how they’re currently coping with the stresses of parenthood. 


9.00pm Don’t Panic: The Truth About Population BBC2 – Swedish statistician Hans Rosling expels the myths about the population crisis by using 3D graphics and the timing of a stand-up in an entertaining This World lecture. 

9.00pm Ottlenghi’s Mediterranean Island Feast More4 – The chef returns to cook more of his favourite Mediterranean dishes and travels to Corsica to learn more about the local delicacies 

10.00pm Bouncers Channel 4 – The programme exploring Britain’s nightlife through the eyes of the door staff returns for a second series. 


9.00pm The Nation’s Favourite Elvis Song ITV – The stories behind twenty of the UK’s favourite Elvis songs are told in this engaging one-off documentary.
