We’re at Edinburgh TV Fest for the next few days. Here’s what we learnt in the company of ITV’s Controller Kevin Lygo.
- Lygo confirmed Cold Feet and Doc Martin will return this Autumn.
- Lygo was “overjoyed” with the success of Love Island but he plans to keep the show on ITV2.
- Lygo is very excited about new drama ‘Liar’ from The Williams Brothers (The Missing) which hopes will provoke discussions.
- Lygo announced ‘Gone to Pot‘ a reality series that sees celebrities travel to the US to try legalised cannabis.
- Another celebrity centred show entitled ‘100 Years Younger‘ will look at how easy it is to reverse the ageing process.
- Lygo was ‘unhappy’ with The Nightly Show. He felt having guest hosts spoilt the flow and the 10pm timeslot might have been ‘too early’
- Lygo was a fan of Harry Hill’s Alien Fun Capsule which will return in 2018 in a brand new Saturday early evening slot following low ratings in its Thursday Night slot.
- He feels the future for comedy on ITV looks ‘bleak’
- Ant will return for I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here when that returns in November.
