The subjects – Charlotte and Jamie – were, mercifully, both very good looking, the sort you’d happily watch going at it in a porno movie. The fact that they came from Essex was a worry – but there was nothing to fear – they didn’t have horrible accents or horrible tastes and shagged five times a week to provide plenty of evidence to be inspected.
Experts Tracey Cox and Michael Alvear carried out their job without resorting to the sort of faked bossiness of Trinny & Susannah, Kim & Aggie etc. Gay agony uncle Michael presumably got his knowledge of female orgasms from books rather than the bedroom – but he seemed quite convincing as the pair set about their goal – bringing Charlotte to orgasm through penetration for the first time.
The scenes of sex were quite erotic in a through-the-keyhole way, until the producers spoiled our voyeuristic fun by turning the pictures psychedelic (borrowing the effect from Top Of The Pops 1977).
It was full of facts that could come in handy at that office Christmas party when you’ve run out of conversation with boring colleagues about stationery, the best local sandwich shop, the woman with the irritating habits etc. Here’s some we gleaned: British people watch two hours’ TV a day on average and have sex for 40 minutes a week; only 30 per cent of women experience orgasm during intercourse; 92 per cent of women admit to faking orgasm; a female orgasm lasts 51 seconds (and it takes 20 minutes to achieve it); a male orgasm lasts 13 seconds (and takes next to no time to achieve it)
Charlotte came good on the end. “Oh my God, she’s riding him like a horse,” cried delighted instructor Tracey.
