Did we like it?
No. We like our comedy shows to be funny, rather than a series of ill-thought-out surreal moments that bore rather than amuse. Another desperate error by the BBC3 commissioners who’re trying to be with it but only showed they’re very much without it.
What was good about it?
• The chatty hangmen, the revenge of the Golf Sale advertising board men and the rappers carrying babies in pouches (“We got it coz we did it with a lady”) were the only elements that came close to raising a smile
What was bad about it?
• Rich Fulcher and Matt Berry are so much better as Bob Fossil and Dixon Bainbridge on The Mighty Boosh – a much better example of surreal humour. Matt was also great as Sanch in Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace, another successful surreal show that was cruelly axed after just one series by Channel 4.
• The Teach Yourself Guitar DVD, The Amazingly Brutal World Of Art and Le Piss and Le Poo were all dreadful.
